Summer Lovin’

I was rather delighted to recently have been given an alternative to my treasured Goyard tote, which despite being my perfect bag is actually somewhat too dark and heavy for high summer (which let’s face it only lasts about two weeks in the UK). The quest for a summer alternative has not gone well, so much joy when a friend at Anya Hindmarch generously gave me a fabulous present.

Back in spring, Ms Hindmarch collaborated with street artist Ben Eine on a collection of canvas totes. They are great fun and I can’t believe I missed them first time round (I guess up to now I always thought of Anya Hindmarch as a women-only phenomenon). Colette in Paris is still selling them online for Euro 230… the design I was given (blue letters on a slate-grey fabric) is actually easily masculine enough to be carried round town by a man and I love the neutral beige leather handles which are comfort itself, even when the bag is stuffed with commuting essentials (for yes, nowadays one has to take the Tube) and a few bits from Fortnum’s. Perfect with linen trousers, crisp white shirt and aviators.
